Pre-Conference TSM Workshop
Thursday 20th November 2003
9:30am - 4:15pm

Following the last two years' acclaimed workshops in The Hague and Berlin, TSM returns for another hands-on day before the 2003 ECIS Conference in Hamburg, led by a distinguished team of trainers from the UK and Austria.

The theme this time will be
"Creating Lesson Plans using ICT".
Delegates will go away with ideas for immediate use in the classroom, building on their skills in MS Office, the Web, Dynamic Software and CAS (Computer Algebra Systems)

SCHEDULE

Delegates will suggest topics in advance so that lessons can be created on the day, using:
- MS Office: Word/Excel/the Web
- Dynamic Software: GSP, Autograph
- CAS: Derive, TI-Voyage 200

"CREATING LESSON PLANS USING ICT"

WORKSHOPS at 11:00 and 14:45

W1: MYP / IGCSE Workshop
Approaches using ICT to liven up lessons in graphs, vectors, and transformation geometry

W2: IB and A level Workshop
New approaches to introducing vectors and coordinate geometry (2D and 3D), differentiation, integration and numerical methods.

W3: Probability and Statistics Workshop [Data Sets]
Finding and extracting data from the web; analysing data successfully; probability and hypothesis tests

W4: Computer Algebra
Ideas on how to introduce calculus, elementary and advanced algebra, sequences, problem solving and modelling. Planning and timing a lesson using GCs.

For this workshop, TSM is extremely fortunate to be able to offer delegates the use of the outstanding computer facilities at HAMBURG INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, by kind permission of Mr Peter Gittins, Headmaster.

DELEGATE FEE only 175 Euro/ 120 UKP including documentation, refreshments and lunch.
2nd and subsequent delegates (same institution): 160 Euro/ 110 UKP.

- All delegates will receive a complimentary personal copy of the new 3D version of 'Autograph'.

This pre-conference workshop is being arranged independently from the main ECIS November Conference at the Congress Centrum, Hamburg, Germany which commences on Friday 21st Nov. If participants also wish to attend the regular conference, they must register separately with the ECIS Secretariat.

HOTEL and BUS PICK-UP:
It is recommended that TSM Delegates extend their ECIS hotel booking back one night.
There will be a bus pick-up from the Congress Centrum at 08:30
The bus will be marked "HIS". Return bus afterwards.
